What People Are Saying

“I've been an editor for over 18 years and worked with hundreds of writers. Liv stands out as one of the best writers I have ever worked with. Not only is she always ready to tackle an assignment or send well-researched pitches, but her copy is as clean as I ever get. Some of my favorite stories with Liv have been ones where she tackled an interview (or several) for a story. She always finds the best sources, gets fantastic insights, and complements that with research and data. What else could you ask for? So far, I've worked with Liv at two separate publications that I've edited for—and she's always my first call when I need a solid writer to tackle a story. Basically, what I'm saying is: HIRE HER! You won't regret it.”

“Olivia has been a great writer to work with! She always submits articles by the agreed-upon deadline, is great at following SEO guidelines, and her articles are always well-researched and written. She keeps the audience in mind for each article she works on and has been a huge help in improving the quality of the articles we produce. She is a pleasure to work with and I would definitely recommend her for any content needs, especially in the behavioral health space.”

Kristen Garafano
Managing Editor at SimplePractice

“Liv’s writing brings a fresh perspective to important topics in the recovery space.  She gathers the most relevant sources of information into one easy-to-digest blog or news article giving our readers the knowledge, tools, and inspiration to spread positive messages about recovery.”

Faces & Voices of Recovery

“Liv has done a number of freelance projects for me. Her writing is informative and engaging, and she always gets everything in on time. It’s often hard to find copywriters who act professionally on a consistent basis, but Liv is one.”

Growing audiences with a social justice lens

Copywriter • The Tempest Case Study

Tempest has since been bought by Monument

Introduction

Tempest’s goal was to improve their web presence by elevating their profile as an expert in the field of modern substance use disorder treatment. The key objectives of their brief were:

  • Establish their brand as an industry expert by producing well-researched and expert-sourced guides on common but misunderstood alcohol and substance-related topics.

  • Improve their organizational rank with search engine results pages to attract customers searching for online solutions to addiction recovery.

  • Provide resource-based content sought by both customers and clinicians, written in an accessible way for their broad audience.

Tempest’s Story

Tempest was founded by iconoclast Holly Whitaker, who challenged the paradigm of alcohol use and substance use disorder recovery with her groundbreaking blog, Hip Sobriety. Frustrated with the limited options available to people seeking individualized help for alcohol problems, Whitaker started her own online sobriety school as Hip Sobriety.

As Hip Sobriety grew in popularity, she transformed the business into the cutting-edge company called Tempest, expanding treatment services and empowering individuals to not only find recovery but to shout it from the rooftops. She also wrote a New York Times Bestseller, Quit Like a Woman

The Challenge

The challenge Tempest faced was that Holly’s popularity and the pride of her successful graduates were not enough to compete with the plethora of SEO-driven addiction treatment companies that essentially own most addiction-related keywords.

Rather than tackle their SEO strategy by producing the same AI-written (and highly stigmatizing) content as these treatment centers, Tempest instead chose to create high-quality, well-researched, expert content. But with a small team, they were limited with the volume of content they could produce.

Why They Chose My Writing Services

  • Tempest was still a relatively new company and needed the help of well-established writers who not only had the experience of tackling substance-related recovery topics, but writers who had had the expertise to approach each topic with a social justice focus.

  • They also chose to approach writers with an established network of experts to draw from, and those who had an established readership to leverage the reach of the published articles.

  • As someone with a popular blog, social media following, substantial bylines, and social justice focus, I had the expertise and sources to deliver what they needed.

The Result

  • I produced over 20 comprehensive, well-sourced, and edited articles by our agreed deadlines and Tempest continued to reach out to source further articles during their existence.

  • Each article was shared across multiple social media platforms and reached a wide audience.

  • Since they were bought by Monument, the new editorial team has also reached out asking for further copywriting services.

Expert articles to expand their web presense

Copywriter • SimplePractice Case Study

Introduction

SimplePractice provides an all-in-one electronic healthcare record (EHR) and practice management solution for clinicians. As they scale their organization to become a leading EHR, SimplePractice are expanding their content resources to achieve some key objectives:

  • Establish themselves as an industry expert by producing well-researched and expert-sourced guides answering many practice-related questions, related to CPT codes, practice management, insurance-related answers, and operational guides.

  • Improve their rank within search engine results pages.

  • Provide resource-based content sought by both clinicians and mental health experts, as well as those seeking therapeutic services, written in an accessible way for their broad audience.

Why They Chose My Writing Services

As a growing organization, SimplePractice doesn’t have the capacity to write the volume of resources that it needs to achieve their strategic objectives. They hired me to deliver well-researched guides and resources drawing on my experience as a copywriter with clinical knowledge as a MSW.

SimplePractice’s Story

SimplePractice was created to help clinicians streamline their electronic practice management, providing an all-in-one solution that supports billing, scheduling, secure HIPAA-compliant records management and messaging, log clinical hours and supervision, and even continuing education.

The Result

I produced comprehensive, well-sourced, and edited articles by our agreed deadlines significantly expanding their content library for their customers. Their editorial team continues to contract articles every quarter and to-date I have produced in excess of 30 articles.

Their Challenge

SimplePractice is not the only EHR on the market and in order to differentiate themselves, they have needed to improve their web presence. One of the ways they have increased brand presence is through their resources section by providing high-quality, well-researched, expert content.
